Three Little Pigs

In my kindergarten class today, we read the three little pigs and talked about sequencing. We talked about what the kind house each pig built and in what order. After, we made the cutest little craft to represent the sequence of events in the story. Below is a picture!

Thanksgiving Goodies

I'm making this precious "Turkey Toes" treat for my K Prac students next week. It's so easy but super cute! All you need is to make it is candy corn and the turkey toes print out. There's a picture below and a link to the print out!

The Crayon Box That Talked

Today I read The Crayon Box That Talked by Shane Derolf with my K Prac class. We discussed how each student adds something to the class that another student cannot. We compared the class to the crayons because it takes all the crayons to make a picture and it takes all the students to complete the class. Then the students colored self-portraits on crayons. I put the crayons together to make a class crayon box.

Sight Words

I ran across a really easy activity for centers to learn sight words and high frequency words. Put sand in a pencil box and have the students trace words with a pencil. Below is a picture and a link to this activity.

Pete the Cat Positional Words

Today in my K Prac class I taught a really fun lesson plan about positional words using Pete the Cat. Pete the Cat books are my very favorite and I love to use them anytime I have the chance. I used the book "Pete the Cat: The Wheels on the Bus" to introduce positional words. I had questions I used to ask the students the position of different objects on each page. Any time I read a Pete the Cat book to a class, the students always LOVE singing along with all of Pete's cute little catchy songs and this book was no different.

After reading the book and learning different positional words, we made a chart using a bus and Pete the Cat cut outs to place Pete in different places like "above", "between", "on top of", etc. Below is a picture of the chart:

Square Cat

This week I am working on creating a math lesson plan to teach in my kindergarten practicum classroom. I've been researching books online to center my lesson around and I have discovered a wonderful new book! The book is titled Square Cat and it is written by Elizabeth Schoomaker. This is such a cute book with lots of fun activities to incorporate. I am going to share with you a blog that I found with tons of super cute things to do after reading this book.
